The consultants in collaboration and partnership with local medical team provide on-site medical and health care services to vulnerable patients in the following areas.

Primary Care:  The primary care team is divided into adult care, pediatric care and eye care and this consists of internist, family physicians, cardiologist, pediatricians, optometrists, pharmacists, nurses, public health specialists and volunteers. This team typically sets up a clinic in the primary health centre or any other convenient location in the community. The medical team screen for common chronic diseases, diagnose acute and chronic conditions, prescribe and dispense necessary medications and refer cases where necessary. Patients typically are grouped according to their age and medical condition as follows:

  • Pediatric Care
  • Adult Care
  • Elderly (Geriatric) Care
  • Cardiac Care
  • Eye Care
  • GYN Care

 

Eye Care: Our eye team led by an optometrist, screen patients with eye problems, treat diseases related to the eyes, identifies refractive errors and dispenses eye glasses when needed. Cases requiring further evaluation and possible surgery are referred to our consultant Ophthalmologist.

 

Pharmacy: Our Pharmacists in collaboration with the local pharmacists establish and operate the on-site pharmacy unit for dispensing prescribed medications. This serves as an opportunity for information exchange and capacity building for the local pharmacists. It also serves as an avenue for development of collegial relationships
