National Mosque
Built in 1984, this modern structure dominates the landscape with its 60 m (192 ft) wide dome surrounded by 120 m (394 ft) tall minarets. Sloped exterior walls and calligraphy tiles next to the entrance gate give way to ornate crimson and gold carpets covering the floor of the mosque. As headquarters of Nigeria's Islamic community, the complex includes a library, religious school, and conference center.
Arts & Crafts Village
Set in the capital's central business district, thatched-roofed huts with round red-brick walls sell a variety of handicrafts ranging from wooden equestrian statuettes to stuffed crocodiles. An impressive collection of wooden and bronze sculptures offers plenty of good gifts ideas, as do beaded necklaces and bracelets, traditional masks, leather bags, atire fabrics and clothes. Yankari National Park
Relax in natural springs and see wildlife in its native habitat at Yankari National Park. Established in 1991, the park houses diverse animal and vegetation species across a total area of 2,244 sq km (866 sq mi). Take one of two daily safari trips organized by the park officials, and visit the four natural warm water springs, open for swimming year-round. Afterwards, relax in the tourist center's restaurant and bar area, or learn more about the animal kingdom at the museum.
Zuma Rock
At 725 m (2,379 ft) above the ground, Zuma Rock embodies an enduring mystery. The enormous black monolith stands north of the capital, and no one knows how it was created. Zuma Rock is one of Nigeria’s iconic natural wonders on the fringes of the border of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State. National Children’s Park & Zoo
The National Children’s Park and Zoo is a popular day trip, where you can introduce your children to different animals and birds. Domestic animals such as camels, donkeys and chickens. Watch wild animals like cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, ostriches and lions. You will find the park in the north-eastern corner of Abuja city. The park is actually located at the base of Aso Rock in Abuja near the Murtala Muhammed Expressway North. The park is open daily for visitors.
