The Race To The Empire
It’s all finally coming to an end, the 2016 US presidential election has been unique some would say, although it has been called many things including crazy, ridicules, a joke and the end to an empire. Democratic presidential candidate, former secretary of state, Hilary Clinton and Republican candidate, millionaire, real-estate business man, Donald Trump, are the last two standing and one shall be named the President of the United States of America by the beginning of the new year, following an inauguration ceremony on the 20th of January. So where do we stand so far?
First, for those of us thinking about joining the race next time, you must fulfill the following traits, according to Article II of the United State’s constitution; you must be, above 35 years old, have lived within the country for at least 14 years and be a natural born US citizen. But as for the now, lets have a quick recap of the current election.
From the beginning of his campaign, Donald Trump became known for his racist/sexist remarks, he constantly referred to Mexican immigrants as “Rapists and Criminals”, Muslims as “ Terrorists” while also threating to build a wall alongside the Mexican boarder and to tighten immigration policies, basically preventing whomever he pleased from coming in to the United States. He also publicly claimed to not having paid federal tax, and last but not least, the multiple sexual harassment, assault and even rape allegations, he’s been accused of from around 12 women, and the Audio recording of him addressing women in an extremely sexist plus vulgar language. He in return has denied all claims, promising to prosecute all women when/if elected president.
Hilary Clinton didn’t exactly have a smooth campaign either; her private email/WikiLeaks scandals, have sparked outrage and affected her popularity, plus the foreign dodgy funds received by the Clinton Foundation. And as for the debates shared by the candidates, they were simply horrifying and mostly a fail for the republican side.
And this is where we stand now, the national polling average shows Hilary at 46.0% and Donald at 40.6%, with about only 10 days left, lets hope for a high turnout of voters and in the mean time sit-tight everyone!
