5 Beauty-Boosting Products from Your Compost Pile
You’re probably used to tossing these items into the compost heap (or the trash). Here’s why you should incorporate them into your beauty routine instead.
1. Coffee Grounds.
Mixing 3 tablespoons of finely ground dried coffee with 2 tablespoons olive oil will give you an all-natural, exfoliating facial scrub. The grounds scrub away any dead skin while the olive oil keeps your skin soft and hydrated. An added perk is that you can absorb caffeine through the skin, so get scrubbing for an extra morning boost!
2. Egg Shells.
Powderize clean, dried egg shells with a mortar and pestle, then whisk in an egg white to create a rejuvenating, skin-tightening mask. Apply it to your face and let dry. Once it’s rinsed off, your skin will feel smooth and refreshed.
3. Lemon Halves.
Holding onto those lemons after you squeeze the juice out is the perfect trick to soften dry elbows. Simply sprinkle baking soda inside the lemon halve and insert your elbow. Now, just twist and turn the lemon to begin exfoliating and rinse any residue off when you are finished.
4. Orange Peels.
Putting a few orange peels into a piece of cheese cloth and tying it shut will create the easiest scented, homemade loofah. The peels will help even your skin tone and leave it looking naturally firmer and brighter.
5. Avocado Skins.
Using leftover avocado peels on your face is a great way to get all of those moisturizing oils from the fruit. Rub the fleshy part of the peel on your face, leave for 15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.
