Live bands, pyrotechnic displays and laser-shows transform the four-mile area into a giant street party. The majority of hotels, clubs and bars also offer special shows and activities.

While a predictable place to visit for New Year’s Eve, it’s predictable for a reason. It is home to one of the most memorable events, the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball Drop.

For more than 100 years now, a massive glittering ball has been lowered into Times Square on New Year’s Eve. At 11:59 p.m. on December 31, in the city’s neon epicenter where Broadway and Seventh Avenue come together, sphere begins its 70-foot drop, before confetti is released into the city sky and onto the people celebrating.
More than a million people typically arrive for this world famous party that features big music acts. You can also expect a fantastic pyrotechnic light show as well as a wishing wall where you can write down your resolutions for the coming year.

One of the traditions is that locals dress head to toe in white, as believed that this is bringing good luck, and toss handfuls of flowers into the ocean as gift to goddess of the seas-Yemanjá.
The celebration also includes large oceanfront stages for live musical and dance performances and a colorful firework at midnight so the scene of NYE can be complete.
5.Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Dubai emerges as the top choice for holidaymakers to celebrate New Year’s Eve.
For its 2014 celebration, Dubai made it into the Guinness Book of Records for having the largest fireworks display ever with title ‘World’s Largest LED-Illuminated Façade’ on Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. Adding to this was a technological marvel that created a ‘sunrise’ at midnight, with a flying falcon taking off into the horizon as the world’s largest pyrotechnic flag in the sky came to life. Additionally, 'live' feeds of the event were available over major international channels and Youtube reaching billions of people around the world.
While there is no word as yet on what Dubai has in store for the masses this year, 2016 celebrations are expected to be just as spectacular.
